Ingredients

For the Base:

2 cups heavy cream
1 cup whole milk
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup creamy peanut butter
5 large egg yolks
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt

For Mix-ins:

1 cup buckeye candies, frozen and chopped
1/2 cup hot fudge sauce
1/2 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

Freeze buckeye candies for at least 2 hours. Chop into bite-sized pieces and return to freezer.

In a heavy saucepan, combine cream, milk, and half the sugar. Heat until steaming.

Whisk egg yolks with remaining sugar and salt until pale. Slowly temper with the hot cream mixture.

Return to saucepan and cook over medium-low heat, stirring constantly, until custard reaches 170-175 degrees F.

Remove from heat and whisk in peanut butter until completely smooth.

Strain custard, stir in vanilla. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours.

Churn in ice cream maker, about 25-30 minutes. Add chocolate chips and buckeye pieces in last 5 minutes.

Warm hot fudge until pourable. Transfer ice cream to container, swirling fudge between layers.

Freeze 4 hours until firm. Let sit 5-10 minutes before serving.
